Ruskin Elementary School

Science Lab

Ruskin School's science program is a model: two part-time science math associates are solely dedicated to teaching the California Next Generation Science Standards through a series of hands on science lab activities.

Working in cooperative groups as well as individually, students learn scientific thinking processes and basic research procedures as they solve problems and carry out experiments while obtaining a meaningful understanding of science concepts.

The curriculum covers topics in earth, physical and life sciences. Students change the state of matter, dissect a squid, make fossils and earth models, explore chemical reactions, learn several types of measurements, explore a pig's heart, and much more.  Ruskin also holds annual Science Fairs and Family STEM Nights.

At Ruskin, science ROCKS!
